CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA - Wednesday 1 October 2014, Jonathan Butler, world renowned guitarist and jazz musician, gave an impromptu session during the Cape Music Institute (CMI) end of term concert at Grand West Casino and Entertainment World's Market Hall. ‘Brand New Stars’ is the creation of the Cape Music Institute, which aims to highlight the wealth of talent – across all music genres – that South Africa has to offer. In its launch year, ‘Brand New Stars’ will focus on Jazz as a genre. Students from the Cape Music Institute (CMI) and the Kicks & Sticks orchestra (one of Europe's top youth jazz orchestras) performed to an assembly of Music colleges, talent scouts, dignitaries and a limited number of paying music lovers.
